This week, in our Meet the Team series, we sat down to speak to Centre Manager of one of Business First’s twin business centres in Liverpool, Adele Lyon, to find out a little bit more about who she is and what she does at Business First and beyond.
As always, we asked some serious questions, and some pretty daft ones, too…
What’s your full name and job title?
“Adele Rose Lyon, and I’m the Centre Manager of one of Business First’s Liverpool business centres.”
Before working here, what’s the most unusual or interesting job you’ve had?
“I worked as a primary school teacher for a while. I spent four years in uni, training for it, only to realise I didn’t want to do it, when I left.”
If you could swap jobs with one person in the company, who would it be and why?
“Donna, the centre manager of our Ribble Court business centre, she always has 100% occupancy!”
What three words do you think best describe Business First?
“Friendly, professional, quality.”
What three words do you think best describe you?
“Loyal, laid-back, friendly – yes, I know that’s technically four words.”
What’s your favourite film?
“Sixth Sense, without a doubt.”
What’s your proudest moment at Business First?
“My first big move-in. It was actually the first client I did a viewing with, so not only was I pretty pleased with my immediate 100% viewings-to-move-in ratio, I was also really pleased to prove to myself that I could do it.”
Do you have a work nickname? What is it?
“It’s not really a nickname, but Billy, the cleaner, always calls me ‘Del’. It’s too much effort to say the ‘A’ apparently.”
What’s your favourite place to travel to?
“I’ve been to Magaluf twice, and I’d go back every year, if I could.”
How do you define success?
“Just by being happy in what you do, really.”
If you could interview any person in history, who would it be and why?
“Henry VIII, I love watching films about his life and his wives.”
If you could only drink one drink for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
“Vodka and Diet Coke, I’m always in a good mood when I’m drinking it.”
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
If you could be any animal for a day, what animal would you be and why?
“A cat. You can sleep all day, someone makes all your food for you, you can jump from the top of buildings and still survive.”
If you were stuck on a desert island and could only take three things with you, what would you take?
“Gerard Butler; when he was in ‘PS I Love You’. False eyelashes. Water.”
Tell us something about yourself that people would be surprised to know.
“I used to enter loads of singing competitions, all the time in fact. I won every one I entered. Now I just sing karaoke.”
Tell us a little about you and your family.
“I live with my Mum and Dad, I have an older brother and a gorgeous nephew.”
Who is your idol?
What is your guilty pleasure?
“I love reality TV. The trashier, the better. ‘Ex On The Beach’ and ‘Geordie Shore’ are my favourites.”
What’s your favourite TV show?
“‘Big Brother’. I always look forward to it.”
Do you have any weird phobias?
“I’m terrified of dogs. Any dog, even the little ones. I was nearly run over once because I stepped in the road to avoid getting too close to a passing dog, that was on a lead!”
If you could choose one superpower, and only one, what would it be?
“It has to be invisibility, doesn’t it? You could hear everything people are saying about you when you aren’t there.”
